About Us

Advance THERAPY ASSOCIATES is a full service therapy company employing occupational and physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, early intervention associates and certified occupational therapy assistants.  We provide quality outpatient clinic, early intervention, school system services & home care.

Our Professional Staff

 

Amanda

Amanda graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelors degree in Teaching the Speech and Hearing Handicapped with a minor in Spanish.  She then graduated with a Masters in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM.

Before joining Advance as the Clinical Coordinator, she worked in school systems, the Connecticut Birth to Three program and private practice settings as a Speech Language Pathologist.  She has extensive training and experience with toddler and preschool speech and language development, as well as feeding, Apraxia, and Autism Spectrum Disorder related interventions.  Amanda is ASHA Certified.

Cheryl

Cheryl graduated Summa Cum Laude from Marywood College in Scranton, PA with a Bachelors degree, subsequently receiving a Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of New Hampshire.  Cheryl has experience working as a speech language pathologist in school systems and the Connecticut Birth to Three program.  She has experience with Autism, augmentative communication, speech and language delays and disorders. Cheryl is ASHA Certified.

Malka

Malka obtained a Bachelors degree in liberal arts with an emphasis on speech/language from Thomas Edison State College and earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from

Nova Southeastern University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.    Before joining Advance, Malka worked in Israel for 2 years with children ages 2-10 with assorted communication disorders including autism, speech and language delays, hearing impairments, fluency, articulation, phonology, pragmatic, and oral motor disorders.  She has experience programming and designing high and low tech Augmentative Alternative Communication devices.  Malka is ASHA Certified.

Shoshana

Shoshana graduated from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY, with a Bachelor of Arts.  She went on to St. John’s University in New York to earn a Masters degree in Speech-Langauge Pathology.  For the past 2 years, she has been working in the Connecticut school systems with students in the preschool through middle school grades.

 

Kristin

Kristin graduated Summa Cum Laude from Quinnipiac University with a degree in Occupational Therapy and was awarded the highest GPA in the Health and Sciences School among the 2001 graduating class. She has worked in various settings including outpatient clinics, home care, school systems and the Connecticut Birth to Three program.  In addition, she has acquired the following certifications: Administration and Interpretation of the Sensory Integration & Praxis Test (SIPT); Handwriting Without Tears; Therapeutic Listening; Visual Vestibular Integration; Sensory Integration & Nutrition; Praxis & Ideation; Creating a Sensory Diet at Home and in the Classroom; Wilbarger Brushing Protocol.  

 

Kristen

Kristen graduated in 2002 Summa Cum Laude from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy.  She is a member of Pi Theta Epsilon (OT Honor Society) and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).  Kristen has 6 years of experience working in various settings including outpatient clinics, home care, school systems and the Connecticut Birth to Three program. She is certified in the Therapeutic Listening program, completing certification in Handwriting with Tears, had led the Alert Program for Self Regulation (Engine Program), and received extensive training related to Sensory Integration, Oral Motor Intervention and Feeding.

 

Jessica

Jessica graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science and Summa Cum Laude with a Masters of Physical Therapy from Quinnipiac University.  Jessica is a member of the APTA.  She has experience working in a variety of setting including the Connecticut Birth to Three system, outpatient clinics, home care and school settings.  Her experience in therapy includes gait training, gross motor development, Neurodevelopment Techniques, orthotics and adaptive equipment

 

Sue

Sue obtained a Bachelors degree in Social Work from Western Connecticut State University, and a Masters degree in Social Work from Fordham University with a concentration in Client-Centered Management.  She is a Certified School Social Worker through the Connecticut Department of Education.  Her experience working with children of all ages and their families has led to her extensive knowledge of community resources and local social service agencies.

 

Colleen

Colleen obtained a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from Central Connecticut State University.  Before joining Advance as the Assistant Director, she worked for over five years in the Connecticut Birth to Three system as an Early Intervention Associate.  She has extensive training and experience with children of all abilities, including children diagnosed with Autism, Downs Syndrome, Apraxia, and other early childhood impairments.  She has been trained in the Wilbarger Deep Pressure Proprioceptive Technique, assisted in developing and carrying out Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs, she is capable of implementing the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), oral motor exercise programs, and the use of sign language. 

 

Lynn

Lynn obtained an Associates degree from Naugatuck Valley Community College in Early Childhood Education as well as her Bachelors degree from Southern Connecticut State University in Communication Disorders. 

Lynn has 6 years experience working with children ages birth to three, with developmental delays in the Connecticut Birth to Three System.  She recently spent a year in Tampa Florida where she was employed as a licensed Speech Therapy Assistant, working with both children and adults.  She has received an Early Intervention Associate Credential from the UCONN medical center and is certified in both the Beckmans Oral Motor Therapy Program and the Wilbarger Deep Pressure and Proprioceptive Technique.
